Broughton's game  last Tuesday was a  loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them  on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cary Imps  a   15-0 shutout. The  win was some much needed relief for the Capitals as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
 Ruby Kalkbrenner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Furthermore,  she didn't allow a single  hit, the first time  she has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing  Three bases. while  getting on base  in two of her three plate appearances. Those  three  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Lucy Bertram, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with six  RBI, four  runs,  and one  triple. The dominant performance gave  her a new career-high in  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Daphne Hall, who  scored four  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Broughton was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cary only posted a  batting average of  .000.
Broughton's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Cary,  they are  on  a  21-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Broughton will host Rolesville  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Cary, they will be playing at home against Panther Creek  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. This will  be Cary's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
