The Prairie Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Hi-Plains Patriots at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Prairie will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Prairie put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past North Park, posting a 49-14 victory at home.
Prairie can attribute much of their success to Justin Schreiner, who rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and Brennan Bringelson, who rushed for 135 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Bringelson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Hi-Plains, who are still winless after their eighth match. They were outmatched by Idalia on the road and fell 73-6. While losing is never fun, Hi-Plains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Idalia is ranked 20th).
Prairie's victory bumped their season record to 4-5 while Hi-Plains' defeat dropped theirs to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Prairie against Hi-Plains in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 75-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Prairie since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
