After a string of three wins, the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Joseph's Catholic. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Christ Church Episcopal of the 49-44 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Leading St. Joseph's Catholic to victory were Tiffany Helmer and Lola Kelly. Helmer scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Kelly scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kelly has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Caroline Mruz, who scored five points along with two steals.
Christ Church Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christ Church Episcopal will take on the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ware Shoals focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Sabres. Southside Christian's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them.
