It was a good run, but the Houston Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Gibson County 56-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Houston has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Houston lost, one person who can't be blamed is Laila Mcnamee. Despite the final result, she scored nine points along with five rebounds. Kinsley Crews was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Gibson County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
Houston won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Agnes Academy at 3:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. St. Agnes Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Houston is ranked 63rd). Gibson County and Dresden will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Dresden's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
