Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Nathaniel Cobb and Jacob Amonett Lead Pickett County to Victory

Pickett County won the last time they faced Clarkrange and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pickett County Bobcats put the hurt on the Clarkrange Buffaloes with a sharp 72-46 victory. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 26 points or more this season.

Pickett County was led to victory by Jacob Amonett and Nathaniel Cobb. Amonett went 8 for 18 on his way to 27 points along with eight assists and five rebounds, while Cobb went 9 of 12 en route to 21 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Cobb is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Lyric Parris was another key player, putting up four points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Pickett County was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clarkrange only racked up ten assists.

When it comes to explaining why Clarkrange lost, don't look at Bryton Swallows. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Swallows' third in a row with at least ten points.

Pickett County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Clarkrange, they dropped their record down to 11-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pickett County Bobcats face off against the Stone Memorial Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clarkrange has already played their next game, a 0-0 tie against Gordonsville on the 24th.
