Softball Recap: Francis Parker Takes a Loss

Francis Parker extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 6-11 in the process. They came up short against the Santa Fe Christian Eagles, falling 19-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in March.

Francis Parker saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Antczak, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Antczak has launched this season.

As for Santa Fe Christian, the victory got them back to even at 7-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Santa Fe Christian's side, Torin Bennett was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Bennett has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Santa Fe Christian let Maya Tyszkiewicz and Maddie Binnie run wild. Tyszkiewicz went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Binnie went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Binnie has posted since back in March. Kayla Emond was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Francis Parker will take on rival Escondido Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Santa Fe Christian is set to challenge their familiar foe Coastal Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.9, the Stingrays 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
