The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sidney, who defeated 39th ranked Scottsbluff, 30-20. Logan Lewis ran for 306 yards and caught 1 pass for 14 yards during the win.
Gering fell to Alliance 35-16 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lewis provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Red Raiders topped the Bearcats.
Lewis was a beast in the backfield as Sidney bested Scottsbluff.
Jake Sager was a key player and the best on defense this week as Todd Ekart's team beat Joe Benson's team. The 6-foot-4 junior forced 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Jackson Hinze put up the best numbers through the air as the Bearcats fell to the Red Raiders. He finished with a total of 9 completions for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hinze's favorite target this week was Matthew Mickey, who caught 2 passes for 42 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Hinze of Scottsbluff is the league leader in passing yards this season with 576. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Justin Brester. The Gering star has 26 catches for 336 yards.
In 188 carries Gage Smith has put up 972 yards this year.
Sidney made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,694 from 4,179. The improvement was the result of a 30-20 victory over the Bearcats last week.
