Softball Recap: New Hope Comes Up Short

New Hope lost against Scottsboro back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. New Hope fell 4-1 to Scottsboro.

Olivia Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ella Baswell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

New Hope has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-17-1 record this season. Scottsboro pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Hope will face off against Plainview at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Scottsboro, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Buckhorn at 4:30 p.m. on April 7.
