Hazelwood Central has gone a perfect 5-0 against Jennings recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Hawks will host the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Hazelwood Central has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Hazelwood Central blew McCluer out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday McCluer got their revenge. The Hawks fell just short of the Comets by a score of 11-9. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Julius Reed was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Hazelwood Central's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Reed was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Cornelius Reed and Caleb Robinson did some serious damage despite the final result: Cornelius went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Robinson went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Reed has become a key player for Hazelwood Central: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Antonio Dyson II, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
Jennings couldn't beat McCluer North on Friday even though they stacked six runs on them in the second inning. The Warriors lost 21-6 to the Stars. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Stars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Hazelwood Central now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Jennings, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Jennings' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Hazelwood Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Jennings, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Hazelwood Central keep running through batters, or will the Warriors buck the trend?
