4A-1 Region I District 2 Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances in games played on Thursday and Friday (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Canyon Gets a Boost from Bell in 50-14 Victory
Starting off the list is Canyon's Boston Bell, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Bell threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. His passing game has become a key predictor of Canyon's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.
On the season, Bell has thrown 10 touchdowns (and and only 2 pick) while averaging 134.8 passing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after eight games last season, he had three passing touchdowns.

SLADE RUSSELL Turns in Season-Best Effort
On Friday, West Plains got the W thanks in part to SLADE RUSSELL playing the best football he has all season. RUSSELL's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 107 rushing yards. He also punched in three rushing touchdowns, which is notable because West Plains is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.
The win (which was West Plains' third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. RUSSELL and West Plains will face off against Dumas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Colt Cruth Makes It Two for Canyon
The second Canyon player making an appearance here is Colt Cruth, and for good reason. He rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also caught a touchdown. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending three passes.
For the year, Cruth has caught 5 touchdowns while averaging 30 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 50.5 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 91.25 rushing yards.

A Season-Best Performance from Tripp Wright Leads Canyon over Pampa
Tripp Wright produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Canyon to the win on Thursday. Wright picked up 134 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
For the year, Wright has caught 2 touchdowns while averaging 35.5 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 0.63 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 14.38 rushing yards.
