Newton (Texas) wasted no time with 27 points in the first quarter, eventually ending with a 64-8 victory over Warren (Texas) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Kevin Shorter in the first quarter, the Eagles led 53-0 at the half.
Newton expanded its lead to 56 points entering the fourth quarter. NHS scored once in the quarter on a field goal.
Warren's only touchdown came on a pass in the fourth quarter.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 61-0 win for the Eagles.
The loss comes after Warren defeated Burkeville 22-6 last week. The loss snapped Warren's two-game winning streak. The win brought Newton's winning streak to four games.
Newton (4-0) goes up against Kirbyville in a 2A-1 Region III District 10 game matchup next week, while Warren (2-1) locks horns with East Chambers also in a 2A-1 Region III District 10 game.
