The Ponderosa Bruins will challenge the Inderkum Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Ponderosa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Ponderosa is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Vista del Lago on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Ponderosa got a good showing from Marissa Granade, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Granade has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ponderosa saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kate McCartney, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Even though they lost, Ponderosa hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. This was only their second loss (out of seven games) when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Inderkum got themselves on the board against Vista del Lago on Friday, but Vista del Lago never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 9-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Natalie Aboosh's shutout, as she gave up just six hits.
At the plate, Inderkum got a massive performance out of Alexandra Jacques, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle Collins, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Inderkum now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Ponderosa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ponderosa hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Inderkum struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ponderosa couldn't quite finish off Inderkum in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 and fell 2-0. Will Ponderosa have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
