Rossville and Taylor are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Hornets will welcome the Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rossville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
Rossville barely beat Clinton Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets blew past the Bulldogs 14-1 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Avery Layton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 12 strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addi Gorbett, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Allie Elliott was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Rossville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Taylor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 6-0 to Plymouth.
Rossville's victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Taylor, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went Rossville's way against Taylor when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Rossville made off with a 14-0 victory. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
