Staley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Liberty North on Monday. The Falcons never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Jake Thomas looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Staley got a massive performance out of Easton Phillippe, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Phillippe a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Irlbeck, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Staley's record now sits at 27-3. As for Liberty North, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season.

Staley and Liberty North should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Falcons will challenge Raymore-Peculiar at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (2 vs. 78). Meanwhile, Liberty North (ranked 17th) will meet Blue Springs (ranked 134th) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
