If the Monrovia Bulldogs were feeling good off their 64-40 takedown of the Indianapolis Lutheran Saints last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Monrovia took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Putnam on Wednesday. Monrovia was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Putnam apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Emery Newlin and Mary Cox certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Newlin scored 22 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Cox scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newlin has scored all season.
Monrovia's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for South Putnam, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monrovia will square off against Greencastle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Putnam, they will head out on the road to take on Indian Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Indian Creek presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Putnam in Indiana (Indian Creek is ranked 47th, while South Putnam is ranked 243rd).
