Baseball Recap: Lexington Has No Trouble Against Tanner

Lexington got themselves on the board against Tanner on Tuesday, but Tanner never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rattlers with a sharp 12-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-0 last Monday.

Conner Scheetz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Lexington is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 8-16 otherwise. Scheetz was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Lard, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Tate Gamble was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Lexington's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-17. As for Tanner, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lexington beat the Rattlers by a score of 11-2 later that day.
