Apollo has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Apollo Eagles and the Dawson Springs Panthers will face off at 10:30 a.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Apollo beat McLean County 46-41.
Meanwhile, Dawson Springs was able to grind out a solid victory over Crittenden County on Friday, taking the game 42-34. Given Dawson Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Crittenden County is ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Rex Blue, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaybird Plunkette, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Apollo is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Dawson Springs' record is now 7-3.
Apollo came up short against Dawson Springs in their previous matchup on December 5th, falling 65-61. Can Apollo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
