You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Pueblo Central Wildcats's strategy against the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs on Friday. Pueblo Central strolled past Pueblo Centennial with points to spare, taking the game 59-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pueblo Central.
Xavier Davis was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayvon Evans, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Despite the loss, Pueblo Centennial saw an underclassman step up: Landen Lenn scored 14 points.
Pueblo Centennial struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Pueblo Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Pueblo Centennial, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo Central will square off against Pueblo South at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Pueblo South is ranked 97th, while Pueblo Central is ranked 100th). As for Pueblo Centennial, they will head out on the road to square off against Pueblo East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
