The Braxton County Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Ravenswood 68-40. Braxton County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Ravenswood apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2017.
It was another big night for Hadleigh McGoskey, who scored 29 points for Ravenswood. That makes it five consecutive games in which McGoskey has scored at least a third of Ravenswood's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Wratchford, who scored 18 points.
Braxton County dropped their record down to 9-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Ravenswood, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Braxton County has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Gilmer County at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Braxton County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps West Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Gilmer County is ranked eighth). As for Ravenswood, they will be playing at home against Charleston Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ravenswood is facing Charleston Catholic at the right time seeing as Charleston Catholic is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
