The De Anza Dons pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eureka.
Despite the defeat, De Anza saw an underclassman step up: Ahmari Otis scored 20 points. Otis scored a full 31.3% of De Anza's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jacari Madison was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Elijah Estrada was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with 6 rebounds for Eureka. Another player making a difference was Prince Latimer, who scored 13 points.
De Anza's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Eureka, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
De Anza is on the road again on Saturday and play against Gateway at 12:30 p.m. on December 2nd. Gateway comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Eureka, they will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Diablo at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Diablo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1115th, while Eureka is ranked 279th).
