Baseball Recap: Welsh Sets Scoring Season-High Against Northside Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Welsh). They never let the Northside Christian Warriors get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Brecken Haydel, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Wyatt Kershaw was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Welsh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .788. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Welsh's third in a row) raised their record to 19-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Northside Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.

Welsh will take on Church Point at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Northside Christian, they will square off against LaGrange at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors are facing the Gators at the right time seeing as the Gators are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
