You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Highland's strategy against Fredericksburg Christian on Friday. The Highland Hawks strolled past the Fredericksburg Christian Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 43-28. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Fredericksburg Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Riley Thomas, who posted seven points along with five assists and three steals, and Layna Thomas, who had seven points. Riley has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played.

Highland's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Fredericksburg Christian, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-2.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Highland Hawks take on the Evergreen Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fredericksburg Christian and Christ Chapel Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
