The Pinole Valley Spartans won against the De Anza Dons last Tuesday with 59 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Pinole Valley had just enough and edged De Anza out 59-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Pinole Valley has posted yet this season.
Leading Pinole Valley to victory were Jaylin Reed and Chriseanie Nealy. Reed scored 17 points along with three blocks and two steals, while Nealy scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Nealy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Romyn Waugh was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why De Anza lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ahmari Otis. Despite the final result, he scored 39 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Otis has scored all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Pinole Valley and bumps their season record up to 9-10. As for De Anza, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Pinole Valley will head out on the road to square off against Analy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for De Anza, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Salesian College Preparatory at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salesian College Preparatory has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,023 points over their last 15 contests.
