The Ware Shoals Hornets lost against the Ninety Six Wildcats back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Ware Shoals was beaten by Ninety Six 53-23. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ware Shoals in their matchups with Ninety Six: they've now lost seven in a row.
Ware Shoals got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Jayme Boyd and
Paris England, who each put up five points. England also led the team in rebounds with seven.
Ninety Six got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Janiyah Squire out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Squire has scored at least 25% of Ninety Six's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Fortner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Ware Shoals' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Ninety Six, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Ware Shoals will head out on the road to face off against Brashier Middle College Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brashier Middle College Charter has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Ninety Six, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McCormick at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
