The Mansfield Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They lost to Skyline on the road by a decisive 47-33 margin. While losing is never fun, Mansfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Skyline is ranked 110th).
Skyline's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Khalaizah Martin, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Naiya Carney, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Mansfield bumped their record down to 11-16 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Skyline, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing DeSoto the next time they take the court. Mansfield will host DeSoto at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Skyline will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
