Lafayette has gone a perfect 4-0 against Southaven recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lafayette Commodores will venture away from home to take on the Southaven Chargers at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lafayette has three straight victories, Southaven has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lafayette's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Center Hill 12-0. Considering the Commodores have won four contests by more than ten runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jenny Dreher made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three).
In other batting news, Mary Madison Kelley was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Braleigh Crowe was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Lafayette was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .424 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Southaven came up short against Lafayette on Friday, falling 14-3.
Lafayette's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Southaven, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went Lafayette's way against Southaven in their previous meeting on Friday, as Lafayette made off with a 14-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lafayette since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
