Even though The Noble Bears scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, the Midwest City Bombers still came out on top. Midwest City walked away with a 42-34 victory over Noble. Winning may never get old, but Midwest City sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jahhim Mahmoud went supernova for Midwest City, rushing for 236 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Midwest City also got a significant boost from Kenneth Colston, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 106 yards.
When it comes to explaining why Noble lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joseph Bear. Despite the final result, he threw for 391 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Midwest City's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Duncan and 1-8 Ardmore (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 23.6% over those games). As for Noble, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Midwest City will look to defend their home field on Friday against Elgin at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Elgin's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. As for Noble, they will head out on the road to face off against MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
