The Blount Leopards suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Murphy by a score of 39-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Blount has scored all season.
Blount lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaiden Beck, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Howard, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Blount struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Murphy found their leader in underclassman Kinley Simmons, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Cordairus Dixon was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Blount has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Murphy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-7.
Blount will head out on the road to challenge Williamson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Williamson's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Blount has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. Murphy will take on McGill-Toolen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
