The Tolar Rattlers will head out on the road to face off against the Goldthwaite Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tolar has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 227 points over their last five contests.
Tolar put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 61-6 win over Bangs. With Tolar ahead 44-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Isaac Blessing continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 170 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Garrison Nation also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Goldthwaite pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Saba. Despite 238 more yards than San Saba, Goldthwaite couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the defeat, Goldthwaite got a solid performance out of Luke Sanderson, who picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Deeds, who threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Tolar's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.4 points per game. As for Goldthwaite, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Tolar against Goldthwaite in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 56-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tolar since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
