Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Marana's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Marana won the last time they faced Casa Grande and things went their way on Friday too. The Marana Tigers strolled past the Casa Grande Cougars with points to spare, taking the game 68-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Leading Marana to victory were Dezmen Roebuck and Tanner Hibbs. Roebuck went 10 of 13 on his way to 23 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals, while Hibbs almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Roebuck is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Onyx Griffin, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Casa Grande lost, don't look at Aveon Williams. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trevor Tacker, who had six points and nine rebounds.

Marana has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Casa Grande, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Marana Tigers challenge the Cienega Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cienega's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Casa Grande, they will square off against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Casa Grande is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.
