The Deerfield Demons will venture away from home to square off against the Luther Prep Phoenix at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Deerfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Luther Prep will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Deerfield extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. Everything went the Demons' way against Williams Bay as they made off with a 17-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Landon Brattlie was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Deerfield is 3-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 3-4 otherwise. Brattlie was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Declan Pohlman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Bagley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Deerfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williams Bay only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, Luther Prep started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Living Word Lutheran. They came up short against the Timberwolves on Saturday, falling 13-1. The Phoenix haven't had much luck with the Timberwolves recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Luther Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Deerfield, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Everything went Deerfield's way against Luther Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Deerfield made off with a 14-4 victory. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
