Softball Game Preview: Louisa-Muscatine Falcons vs. Danville Bears

Louisa-Muscatine is a perfect 6-0 against Danville since June of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Louisa-Muscatine's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so Danville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Louisa-Muscatine is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: North Linn, who was ranked 20th at the time (Louisa-Muscatine was ranked eighth). The Falcons put the hurt on the Lynx with a sharp 8-1 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Five must be Danville's lucky number: they beat New London with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Bears beat the Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Louisa-Muscatine's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Danville, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Louisa-Muscatine took their win against Danville in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
