The Pottsville Crimson Tide lost against the Berks Catholic Saints back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Pottsville took a 57-43 bruising from Berks Catholic. While losing is never fun, Pottsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Berks Catholic is ranked sixth).
Pottsville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Alvarez, who scored 12 points. The match was Alvarez's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Letrel Montone was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Pottsville and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Berks Catholic, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pottsville will challenge Panther Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Panther Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Thursday. Berks Catholic will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Daniel Boone at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th.
