The Flint Hill Huskies lost against the Catholic Crusaders back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Flint Hill took a 63-46 bruising from Catholic. While losing is never fun, Flint Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Catholic is ranked sixth).
When it comes to explaining why Flint Hill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Raigan Mccalla. Despite the final result, she shot 6-for-12 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Mccalla has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lynette Doku, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Flint Hill dropped their record down to 8-12 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Catholic, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flint Hill will take on Georgetown Visitation Prep at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Flint Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday. As for Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Norfolk Christian at 5:30 p.m. Norfolk Christian will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
