The Johnson County Trojans were the 50-41 winner over the Screven County Gamecocks when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Johnson County took a hard 49-31 fall against Screven County on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Johnson County has scored all season.
Johnson County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ziyah Lewis, who scored ten points. S'Riyah Bostick was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Alailah Scott continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Screven County, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals. Scott hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayven Tyler, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Johnson County and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Screven County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson County on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hancock Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hancock Central is on a six-game streak of home losses, Johnson County a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Screven County, they will head out on the road to face off against Claxton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Claxton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 431st, while Screven County is ranked 206th).
