The Waynesboro Little Giants will head out to take on the Charlottesville Black Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Waynesboro will be strutting in after a victory while Charlottesville will be coming in after a defeat.
On Thursday, Waynesboro was able to grind out a solid win over James River, taking the game 7-3.
Aidan White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Haden Morris was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jasiah Berg was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Charlottesville suffered their closest loss since April 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Orange County by a score of 9-7. The Black Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Charlottesville also got a good showing from Julian Mark-Williams, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mark-Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Abe Jaspen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Mason Divers, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Charlottesville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Waynesboro, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Waynesboro couldn't quite get it done against Charlottesville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 16-12. Can the Little Giants avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
