Whitko has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Wawasee Warriors at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Whitko will be strutting in after a win while Wawasee will be coming in after a defeat.
Whitko posted their closest victory yet this season on Saturday. They beat Northfield by the very same score they won with last week: 47-45. Given Whitko's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Northfield is ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wawasee suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 52-31 walloping at the hands of Tippecanoe Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Wawasee has suffered against Tippecanoe Valley since January 24, 2017.
Whitko's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Wawasee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.
Whitko came up short against Wawasee in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 54-41. Can Whitko avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
