Fort Benton/Highwood has been on the road for nine straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Box Elder Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Fort Benton/Highwood came up short against Big Sandy and fell 49-36.
Meanwhile, Box Elder's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Big Sandy. While losing is never fun, Box Elder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Big Sandy is ranked 14th).
Despite the loss, Box Elder saw an underclassman step up: Martay Rosette scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Rosette posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariel Gopher, who scored 12 points.
Even though they lost, Box Elder were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Fort Benton/Highwood's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Box Elder, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Fort Benton/Highwood strolled past Box Elder in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 57-43. Will Fort Benton/Highwood repeat their success, or does Box Elder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
