If the East Laurens Falcons were riding high off their 64-22 takedown of the Jefferson County Warriors last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. East Laurens took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals on Friday. East Laurens was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
East Laurens lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Deanna Lowther, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks. McKayela Tanner was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
East Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Bleckley County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Laurens won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Wilkinson County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 420th, while the Falcons are ranked 156th). As for Bleckley County, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Telfair County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday.
