The Ashley Screaming Eagle will head out on the road to take on the Topsail Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ashley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Ashley unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak. They took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hoggard. Ashley has struggled against Hoggard recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaeden Hudson, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Norris, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Topsail managed to keep up with Hoggard until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Topsail suffered a tough 62-37 loss at the hands of Hoggard. While losing is never fun, Topsail can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Hoggard is ranked 14th).
Ashley's record now sits at 12-10. As for Topsail, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.
Ashley couldn't quite finish off Topsail in their previous meeting back in January and fell 54-51. Can Ashley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
