Even though the Houston Homeschool Athletics Mavericks scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, the Lutheran North Lions still came out on top. Lutheran North walked away with a 71-58 victory over Houston Homeschool Athletics. Given Lutheran North's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while Houston Homeschool Athletics is ranked 1039th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lutheran North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sion Cleveland, who scored 21 points along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds. The game was Cleveland's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Terrell Woods, who scored 17 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
Lutheran North pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 66 points. As for Houston Homeschool Athletics, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Lutheran North has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Empowering Others Prep at 8:00 p.m. on December 8th. Empowering Others Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Lutheran North likes a good challenge. Houston Homeschool Athletics will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Legacy Prep Christian Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 19th.
