The Cary Academy Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 32-17 to Durham Academy. If Cary Academy hoped to take revenge for the 51-38 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Katie White and Jasmine Phillips certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. White scored four points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Phillips scored two points.
Durham Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sasha Bilsborrow, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashyia "Shy" Williams, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Cary Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Durham Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-12 record this season.
Cary Academy will head out on the road to square off against Thales Academy Apex at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thales Academy Apex will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Durham Academy will take on St. Mary's at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
