Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Pine Ridge

After losing to Eustis the last time they met, Pine Ridge decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Pine Ridge walked away with a 6-3 victory over Eustis on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but Pine Ridge sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Loren Cheatham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Figueroa, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Humbert Casillas, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Pine Ridge pushed their record up to 9-3-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Eustis, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Ridge will face off against Seabreeze at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Eustis, they will take on Mount Dora at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
