The Southwestern Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Danville Admirals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwestern is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Saturday, Southwestern was the victim of a rough 49-26 defeat at the hands of Notre Dame Academy. While losing is never fun, Southwestern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Notre Dame Academy is ranked sixth).
Despite the loss, Southwestern saw an underclassman step up: Jordy McDonald scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Southwestern struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Danville's 34-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mercer County on Tuesday.
Southwestern now has a losing record at 2-3. Danville's record is now 1-3.
Southwestern was able to grind out a solid victory over Danville in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, winning 65-54. Does Southwestern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Danville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
