Mendon is a perfect 3-0 against White Pigeon since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Hornets will host the Chiefs at 10:00 a.m. Mendon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Mendon came out on top against Colon on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Hornets took their match against the Magi 9-5.
Cam Bingaman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xavior Zinsmaster, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Carter Huston, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Mendon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White Pigeon). They blew past Bangor 16-4 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Chiefs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Mendon, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Everything went Mendon's way against White Pigeon in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Mendon made off with a 21-3 victory. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
