The Southwestern Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Trinity Lutheran Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Southwestern was beaten by Triton Central 65-36. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southwestern in their matchups with Triton Central: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Trinity Lutheran's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 58-26 loss at the hands of Hauser. While losing is never fun, Trinity Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Hauser is ranked 72nd).
Despite the defeat, Trinity Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: Hudson Lang scored 17 points. Lang is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.
Edinburgh's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Southwestern's defeat dropped theirs to 0-1.
Southwestern ended up a good deal behind Trinity Lutheran in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, losing 59-42. Can Southwestern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
