The Eupora Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Choctaw County on the road and fell 71-38. While losing is never fun, Eupora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Choctaw County is ranked 98th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Choctaw County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jakarius Weaver, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Weaver hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Garrick Alston was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Eupora has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Choctaw County, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4.
Eupora will take on J.Z. George at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Eupora is facing J.Z. George at the right time seeing as J.Z. George is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. Choctaw County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
