Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 7 on the offensive boards, a fact the D'Evelyn Jaguars proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against The Academy by a score of 46-35. Despite the win, that was the fewest points D'Evelyn has scored all year.
Taj Kumar was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of D'Evelyn's points. Vince Scaturro was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, The Academy still got an impressive performance from Trey Boychuk, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Boychuk's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dominik Konarski, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for D'Evelyn and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for The Academy, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. D'Evelyn won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against DSST: Montview at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. One thing working in DSST: Montview's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. The Academy is on the road again on Monday and play against Manual at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th. Manual presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than The Academy in Colorado (Manual is ranked 70th, while The Academy is ranked 256th).
