The Cambria Heights Highlanders will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against West Shamokin at 7:00 p.m. on October 6th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Cambria Heights beat Homer-Center 27-14. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cambria Heights.
Cambria Heights' win was a true team effort, with five players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxxon Kline, who rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Cambria Heights also got a significant boost from Trey Trybus, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 87 yards.
Meanwhile, West Shamokin strolled past Conemaugh Valley with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-6.
Lou Swartz had an outrageously good game as he threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes, and also rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Another player making a difference was Ezra Oesterling, who picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Cambria Heights has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, bringing their record up to 4-2. West Shamokin's record is now 3-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Cambria Heights have been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 230.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like West Shamokin struggle in that department as they've been averaging 266.5 per game.
Cambria Heights easily got past West Shamokin when the teams last played last October by a score of 47-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cambria Heights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
