Dixon is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Swansboro is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bulldogs will host the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Dixon will bounce into Friday's match after beating West Carteret, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Patriots on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since March 12th.

Chris Tesgle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Dixon is 5-2 when Tesgle allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-6 otherwise.
At the plate, Dixon's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chris Guslander, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Swansboro). They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over Richlands on Tuesday. With that victory, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Devon Marion made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin Till, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landen Jenkins, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI.
Swansboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Swansboro's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Dixon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dixon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Swansboro struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
